Instructor Mike Dear, RIT School of Photography Facilities Manager
This workshop is a two day hands-on workshop focused on color
management with the goal of creating a color managed workflow for every
user. Topics included will monitor profiling, printer profiling, and
color workspace issues. We will discuss the different options for
software and hardware that are available to artist/photographers &
print shops. Participants will each create a custom printer ICC
profiles during the workshop.
Discussions
will include and not limited to: color workspaces, Epson print driver,
third-party RIP’s, X-Rite Vs. Gretag software & hardware, monitor
profiling, printer profiling, and applying a color managed workflow.

business news. The pixels for the night will be a slide show of
photographs from ASMP leaders around the country that was shown at the
recent Bradford Leadership Conference. Hors devours are provided and a

Everyone enjoys a good pint, why not pair it with a few pixels instead of pretzels.
Well we can do both at our Pints N’ Pixels meeting. Join us for
ASMPWNY’s first P&P. We will gather from 7-9, there will be no
charge for the event. Food will be provided and a full cash bar will be
available . Pints N’ Pixels is a great way to socialize, relax, have a
drink and a bite to eat, and to look at each others’ work. Think of it
as show and tell for adults, but with alcohol!
Please register early and email your digital files. We’ll have a
continuously running slide show. Don’t insert your name on the digital
image, we will insert that in the file for you. (You need not be an
ASMP member to show!)
Tech note: All images must be submitted ahead of time, by March 5th to douglas@douglaslevere.com.
Photos specs: JPEGs, less then 1 MB and in sRGB (to look best).
Please name your images with you last name and a number that will help
the images show together in the slide show (example: smith001.jpg). The
board will use discretion with any questionable material.
Members may submit up to 5 images and non-members are invited to submit 2 images.

A Nikon tech rep is coming to Rochester to demonstrate the new
professional D3x camera along with a slew of pro lenses, Speedlights,
and possibly the D700 and D3 models. The demonstration will include an
overview of the D3x camera, the technology that sets it apart from the
rest, and samples of the cameras capabilities. There will be hands on
time to take the camera for a test drive so bring your own camera,
laptop, and or memory card (MicroDrive or CompactFlash, type I/II).
This event is open to everyone so come and join the fun.
Please note that the Nikon rep is driving from New Jersey so if the
weather is terrible please call Booksmart for cancellation notices or
ASMP members check your email.
